About Government Surplus Online Auctions

It is a common goal for government agencies to secure the most cost effective process for the disposal of surplus goods and to eliminate the incidences of surplus goods being routed to landfill sites. The Government Surplus Online Auction is a tool that helps to meet these requirements.

The Government Surplus Online Auction is a service that is available for use by public agencies in Ontario. It is the grown up child of the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) Online Auction that has been in operation since 2002.

Initially the DSBN and then other Niagara agencies used the DSBN Auction to dispose of surplus goods. It was found to be an effective way to dispose of surplus items and at the same time give the general public an opportunity to obtain useful items in a fair and equitable manner.

Encouraged by the positive results obtained with the DSBN Online Auction, staff determined to make the service available to public agencies across Ontario. The result of this effort is the "Government Online Surplus Auction", the site you are now visiting.

We encourage you to register yourself as a bidder, and avail yourself of the opportunity to obtain the items that you need.

If you are an Ontario Public Agency, and wish to post items on the auction, please register yourself as an agency, which will enable you to begin posting items. If you have any questions about the auction, please contact Ken.Redekop@dsbn.edu.on.ca
